Msgr. Buh’s clerical collar was among the artifacts found when his casket was exhumed in June. His remains will eventually have a final resting place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Duluth. (Photo Submitted to the Northern Cross)
As the Diocese of Duluth discerns a potential cause for its patriarch, Msgr. Joseph Buh, who died in 1922, two new resources for Catholics getting to know the holy priest have been released: A new website dedicated to him and a short biographical booklet talking about his life and ministry.
The whole idea of canonization should feel closer to home for us as a diocese, and it certainly seems more real to me personally, since we are in the beginning stages of discerning a “cause” for one of our very own in Msgr. Joseph Buh.
When Msgr. Joseph Buh’s funeral Mass was celebrated on Feb. 6, 1922, the bishop of the Diocese of Duluth at the time, Bishop Timothy McNicholas, described him as “a saintly priest whose life was a benediction and whose memory will be an inspiration for future generations.”
Dear Brothers and Sisters, We are living in a missionary time. We are a missionary diocese. We are missionary parishes and schools. We are missionary priests and deacons. We are all called to be missionary disciples.
