In an old document recently rediscovered in the archives of St. Scholastica Monastery there is an extraordinary tale of Msgr. Joseph Buh’s intuition, or perhaps miraculous abilities. In a single paragraph, this old document explains; “Once a bad fire occurred in the saw mill and the people feared for the town as the wind was high. They fled to Msgr. Buh to ask if they should leave the town. He told them no, they should go back to their work, all would be safe. A few minutes later a heavy rain fell on the saw mill, but no place else.”
Such stories tend to be a normal occurrence for people of such extraordinary holiness and virtue as was Msgr. Buh. The same old document says, “Surely no one was more dearly loved. Everywhere his name strikes a reminiscent chord. All believe firmly in his sanctity. A dozen times from a dozen different sources one hears strange, fabulous tales such as these.”
With the passage of time, no doubt many of the extraordinary tales that surrounded Msgr. Buh have been forgotten, but in the case there are some still remembered, we would gladly hear of them. Contact Father Richard Kunst at [email protected].
